VOKI

Group Project 2014

Product Concept

Martin Poon & Joletta Pang

VOKI is a design practice from the Process and branding course. The core idea is to design a product that shares the same language of an existing brand. Other values like practical use are all secondary. Victorinox was the brand we chose to work on.

01

Base on our research, we tried to define the shape of the concept and tried to see if the approach is correct base on the first impression.

02

We turned the sketch into a 3D to further investigate the approach.  Other than the colors, the concept failed to present the brand identity

03

We proceed to follow the iconic design of the army knife. The result was more convincing, but
it was because of the iconic of Victorinox design.

04

The shape was once again been redefined. This time with our own original approach. The design was still very raw and functions were not defined.

05

The design was further explored and refined.
But still, missing realism and details were poor.

06

The design was more detailed and size/ scale
was more realistic. The concept was further developed into a physical form afterward.

07

We further study the size, proportion, parts moment and details though 3D models. All the models were fully movable to extract the realism.

08

The design was ready and was 3D printed and painted/chrome cast. A photo shooting was followed afterward.
